BOOKINGS

ONLINE BOOKINGS: Full payment is required to reserve your place/s at time of booking.

TELEPHONE BOOKINGS:

Full payment or a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the cost of the lesson is required (the “Deposit”) to reserve your place/s at the time of booking unless booking is made within 14 days of the lesson in which case full payment is required to reserve your place.
You will receive confirmation of your booking via e-mail or post. Please print off this confirmation and bring it with you at the start of your lesson, as production of the written confirmation will be required upon signing in.
The balance of payment will be collected at the start of your lesson. Payment of the balance will be in cash or cheque. No credit cards are accepted.
We recommend that you bring the minimum amount of valuables possible to the beach as we will not accept any responsibility for loss of or damage to personal items.

CANCELLATION PROCEDURES

All cancellations must be confirmed in writing / email to: Southerndown Surf School, 4 Heol St Bridget, St Brides Major, Vale of Glamorgan CF32 0SL or southerndownsurfschool@live.co.uk, and are effective on the date and time received by Southerndown Surf School.

In cases where full payment has already been made, 50% of the total monies paid is held as the non-refundable Deposit amount.
Cancellations within 48 hours of lesson start time will lead to the loss of all monies paid.
Cancellations made in excess of 48 hours, but within 14 days of the lesson start time will lead to a loss of the Deposit and a further 50% of the total monies payable or paid in excess of the initial Deposit

Cancellations made prior to 14 days will lead to the loss of the Deposit. Any remaining monies paid will be returned to the account from which it came or surf voucher offered to the amount paid. Surf vouchers are valid for 6 months from issue date.

If any members of your group are not going to participate in their surfing course then their space must be cancelled following the procedures above.
Failure of any member of your group to turn up on the day without prior cancellation will lead to the loss of all monies paid, as stated above.
Failure to turn up for your lesson at the appropriate time will not entitle you to a full or partial refund of any amount.
We reserve the right to refuse clients who arrive more than 10 minutes after the start of their lesson. No refund will be offered in this situation.

SURF LESSONS

Please telephone Southerndown Surf School one hour before the lesson is due to commence to confirm beach venue. Southerndown Surf School reserves the right to change the venue or cancel the surf lesson due to unsuitable conditions.
In the rare event that Southerndown Surf School considers sea conditions to be unsuitable for instruction we have 2 options:

Your lesson/s will be re-arranged for a more appropriate time/date
A credit voucher will be issued

PLEASE NOTE: No refunds are issued

Any credit voucher issued by Southerndown Surf School must be used within 6 months. All vouchers are dated and signed by instructors. Any lessons owed must be booked in advance and are subject to availability.
Southerndown Surf School accept no responsibility for students in and beyond the surf line. All care will be taken to ensure student safety. Students will be expected to listen and adhere to advice given by Southerndown Surf School staff at all times.
We will refuse to instruct or accept into a lesson any student that is under the influence of alcohol or substance misuse or for any other reason is in no fit state to take part in the lesson. This decision is made at the discretion of the instructor on the day! No refund will be offered in this situation.
Students are required to sign a medical declaration prior to surfing.
Parents/Guardians of children age 16 or under will be required to sign them in and stay within the beach vicinity at all times.

PARTICIPATION LIABILITY AND OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION

For all lessons you are advised to take out your own personal insurance for cancellation, accident, personal belongings and property insurance before arrival.
The activity of surfing carries with it a degree of risk to both people and personal property, even if enjoyed under the proper supervision of qualified instructors. It is a strenuous physical activity that requires students to have a reasonable standard of swimming ability and personal fitness. All students must therefore make us aware of any medical conditions, illnesses or allergies that they have and any prescribed drugs or medication they are taking at the time of booking and upon signing in on the day of their lesson.
No-one should participate in a surfing lesson if they are suffering from a medical condition such as a heart condition or if they are pregnant. If you are unsure as to whether or not any medical condition that you may have will be affected by the activity of surfing then medical advice must be sought before booking your lesson. All students warrant that they are able to swim at least 50 metres and are not under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication at the time of the lesson, which may adversely affect their physical/mental abilities.
All students must agree to abide by all instructions and decisions that Southerndown Surf School and its instructors make to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students.
Students on all lessons will be entitled to the use of surfing equipment provided by the Southerndown Surf School during their lesson times only. Southerndown Surf School takes all reasonable measures to ensure that equipment is in a safe and good condition for use, but students are responsible for immediately reporting any damage caused to the equipment, or that becomes apparent whilst the equipment is in their possession.
Southerndown Surf School does not seek to limit or exclude any liability for personal injury or loss of life which may occur as a result of its own negligence or that of its employees, officers or agents. However Southerndown Surf School assumes no liability in respect of any personal injury, loss, damage, consequential loss or third party claims which occur through no fault of its own, its employees, officers or agents.
All other liability or conditions implied by law are excluded to the fullest extent possible.
